Note: Employers in Australia have to pay a compulsory superannuation contribution which means an additional 9.5% of the au pair's pocket money before tax to be paid into the superannuation fund. The superannuation is the Australian version of retirement saving. As a non-resident, the au pair can claim this money back when he / she leaves Australia.
