How can I become au pair in Canada?

Hello,

I´m from the Dominican Republic and I would like to be an au pair.

I can cook: fast food, sushi, oriental cuisine and more. I also have a lot of experience in taking care of babies and children.

I would like to know other cultures and Native Canadians, to see the country, fish, help and work hard in Canada.

Hi Jerfin,

Thank you very much for your question.
And also thank you for your short description, make sure to add those information on your profile to increase your chances of success with host families ;-)

That being said, I just want to let you know that it is quite difficult to get to Canada as an au pair. The main reason is that they don't really have an au pair program. Canada has some alternative programs, but they are quite restrictive and paperwork intensive.
For instance, this one could work for you: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/foreign-workers/caregiver.html
(Au pair have more chances if they can go to Canada with a working holiday visa, but there is no such agreement yet between Canada and the Dominican Republic).

But your first step will be to find and convince a family you are the right person for them so that they are willing to undergo the administrative steps for you.

I hope this helps. I wish you best of luck in your research.

Kind regards,
Julien, from the connectAuPair team

Hola Jerfin,

Muchos saludos

Julien del equipo connectAuPair
