What is a reference letter for an au pair?

A reference letter for an au pair applicant is a letter which provides information that should prove the au pair applicant's ability to work as an au pair. It can in general be written as an informal letter, but many people feel it's easier to fill in a pre-defined template.

The reference letter can e.g. be provided by the au pair applicant's teachers, former or current employers, families who employed the au pair applicant as a babysitter or a former host family.

Why do I need a reference letter?

Although the existence of a reference letter normally isn't a pre-requisite to be able to search for a host family (it might be one, if you involve an agency), providing one or more reference letters attached to your profile will definitely improve your chance to find a good host family!

How can I add a reference letter to my profile?

To add a reference letter to your profile, simply send the link to this page to the reference. The reference can then download the template in the right language and either fill and sign it directly on the computer, or print it, fill and sign it on paper and send you the scan or a photo of it. You then just have to upload the reference letter to my documents in your profile.
